We utilize this tool mainly in our sales efforts. It used by our business development and account management team. It is resourceful in locating contact information quickly online. It provides us typically with contacts email addresses.
  • Locates contact information.
  • Locates patterns of how many times that contact's name comes up online.
  • Identifies contacts by job title.
  • Sometimes contact information is outdated or incorrect.
  • Job titles and names are mismatched.
  • Sometimes doesn't locate our target contact.
Hunter is well-suited for sales and finding contacts within a company. It's not particularly useful in recruiting efforts.

  • Hunter has had little ROI on our business objectives regarding sales. We use other sales tools that are more effective with providing accurate information and more detailed information.
  • Hunter is useful when looking for new contacts (names especially) for potential clients.
I have used AnyMail Finder in the past. Hunter is more user-friendly and I stopped using AnyMail immediately.

We use Hunter at Workable in order to capture contact email and phone information. It is primarily used by the sales team, and associated researchers, to great effect. With Hunter, we are quickly and easily able to find contact information that other tools might have missed. It is great for getting the email domain correct and helping to determine the structure of the first half of the email e.g. first name + last name@...
  • Provides email domains very well. While some companies have a different domain for their "info@xyz.com", Hunter is able to find the domain that is being used by individuals at the company.
  • For American contacts in particular it is very good at finding personal phone numbers.
  • Helps to enrich the contacts that might be in a company by providing a confirmed list of employees.
  • As an extra - I really like how easy it is to use. You can input the contacts name and copy-paste from the chrome extension quickly and easily. This saves a load of time when you are trying to find the right address.
  • Recently I have found the Hunter chrome extension to be a little "buggy". For example I sometimes have to open Hunter in a new tab in order to input a contacts name. This is a recent bug though and something I have never had trouble with in the past.
  • While it is great for finding contacts when all the email formats are the same, it doesn't give options to try additional email formats in their search bar. This is a little frustrating as the tool itself shows the different formats listed in the drop down of suggested contacts.
  • Information isn't always up to date. I'm not sure how they pull their contact information so I don't have a suggestion on how to improve this currently.
The scenario we most commonly use Hunter for is to quickly find and retrieve contact email information. Phone numbers are an added bonus, but they tend to only be available for contacts in the US. SDRs have the extension in order to confirm or to help them "guess" as to what a contact's email address might be. This speeds up our prospecting time considerably. Where Hunter falls short is not being flexible where companies have more than one email format.

  • (Difficult to quantify precisely so this is more of a feeling). Considerably reduces the time taken to find email information for contacts, saving SDRs time and allowing them to be more active with their outreach.
  • Provides extra contacts for SDRs to reach out too, helping to quickly enrich accounts.
  • US phone information is often correct too, providing an additional avenue of outreach for the team.
Hunter is a much more user-friendly version of Clearbit. I personally also find it to be more accurate than Clearbit. With Clearbit it felt like too many clicks to get to the information that you wanted. With Hunter, it is a simple copy - paste - click, to get the information you need. The additional list of contacts it provides and the verification source is also more readable.

Hunter is used by both the sales and marketing teams at our company. The sales and marketing teams use Hunter.io to find relevant contacts at key prospective target accounts. The sales team leverages the Google Chrome extension to look up the email format of companies and then searches for key roles within the organization.
  • Hunter provides a quick and easy way to look up the email format for any company using the free Google Chrome extension.
  • Hunter allows you to upload a bulk list of emails and verify them easily.
  • Hunter shows where verified emails were found on web pages and PDF documents. This shows that the emails were published by trusted sources.
  • Hunter.io's UI is a little clunky and it would nice to have a bigger expanded UI view compared to opening up a brand new tab each time a search is expanded.
  • I'd love to see a save feature for Hunter.io. This would save users a ton of time and keep them more organized.
  • It would be great if Hunter.io synced with Salesforce LinkedIn Navigator and my CRM, SharpSpring.
Hunter.io is very well suited for any sales rep who is building out lists of contacts for email outreach, or for marketer's looking to reach out to PR and marketing contacts for link building campaigns. The tool is a great free option if you are doing targeted, 1:1 personalized outreach and you need a few contacts. The tool can be expensive if you are needing to reach thousands of people. A paid version of Hunter.io is not a great fit if you already pay for another list building source such as Data.com or Discover.Org.

  • We only use the free version of Hunter, so any leads we get results in an immediate positive ROI.
  • This tool saves our sales team an incredible amount of time and thus saves us several hours, and the associated opportunity cost, as we build out lists to get new prospects in the funnel.
  • Hunter verifies emails, helping us save our domain rating and ensures we aren't getting into more spam inboxes.
Hunter.io is a much cheaper alternative to Data.com, and provides just as accurate data. Data.com does offer more contacts per company as it tries to map out org charts at a company, but you'll often see many of the same contacts at Hunter.io as you would on Data.com. I ultimately selected Hunter because I did not purchase Salesforce, and Data.com was way out of my price range. I also liked that Hunter.io did not require me to sign a year-long subscription.
